Give the Gift of Hope

A child and an Elder with their stockings

The holiday season is a time of joyous celebrations filled with food, friends, and presents for millions — but not so for many Native Americans. Remembering Native American children and Elders this holiday season will have a lasting impact that goes far beyond the holidays… just as your support throughout the year touches the lives of so many time and time again. So many look to us all year to lessen the hardships and improve quality of life on the reservations, and they are counting on us to do the same for the holidays. The most important thing we provide is hope.

It’s important that Native Americans be remembered, along with the rest of America. Please consider giving a gift to help spread Holiday cheer and distribute needed items such as Christmas stockings, winter fuel, and food.

Once you've made your purchase, you'll be given the option of sending a Holiday eCard to loved ones to let them know a lasting gift has been made in their honor.

Gift products are presented for donation purposes only and are not available for individual sale. We apologize but only one honorary Holiday eCard is permitted per transaction. If you have more than one person to honor, please make separate donations.

Give the Gift of Heat
Many of the Elders we serve in the Northern Plains use wood as their source of heat in the winter - and even some summer nights. It is difficult for Elders to haul their own wood or to afford to purchase it from a vendor. It gets extremely cold and windy on the Plains in the winter. Temperatures drop below freezing frequently. The winter winds can be brutal, blowing up to 60 miles an hour regularly, making the temperatures feel even colder. Because many of the homes are in poor repair, heating costs are higher. It takes more to heat a drafty house. Combined with winter boxes, Elders can be more comfortable through frigid winters.

Sponsor a Vegetable Garden
Help an Elder or family grow nutritious vegetables by sponsoring a garden. Each Elder you sponsor will have their garden tilled. They will also receive lots of seed packets, hoses, some sunscreen, and some hand tools (while supplies last.) The fresh vegetables help balance out the steady diet of packaged food and alleviate the fact that sometimes fresh vegetables on the reservation are in short supply or unaffordable.
