Doggie JackpotEven though a sign stating, “PLEASE DON’T DUMP YOUR DOGS OR PUPPIES,” greets visitors as they enter the dump, somehow multiple strays are found and rescued by caring community members on a regular basis.
Rescued from the dump, Fletcher was making the best of a child’s car seat before he was found. Fletcher was one of the many special animals that came into the welcoming arms of our Program Partner, Oglala Pet Projects (OPP), in the middle of February. Rescued from the dump, Fletcher was huddling in and making the best of a child’s car seat before he was found. Finding that special home can take time and sometimes the second time hits the jackpot! The Reservation Animal Rescue™ (RAR) program provides assistance to animal welfare organizations in both the Northern Plains and Southwest. Our program partners are experts at weaving happy endings for furry friends. Many of our staff have adopted animals from our Program Partners and can attest to the fact that rescues make the best companions, bar none. Finding that special home can take time and sometimes the second time hits the jackpot! Each animal comes with a story — similar, yet varied from all others. Each animal has a unique personality. And, each animal has the uncanny ability to give you those cute, “take me home” eyes and pull you into their story. Fletcher was no different. The photo and Fletcher’s story quickly captured a family’s notice because a few weeks later, a note of congratulations went out to Fletcher:
On National Puppy Day — Fletcher was notified that a new family was found! Unfortunately, it was only a day later another post come through seeking applications for Fletchers’ placement…
One week later — and most appropriately on National Puppy Day — Fletcher was notified that a new family was found. They even traveled all the way from Wyoming to pick him up! A day later, OPP celebrated another successful placement:
